Rowley Way, NW8 London
The Alexandra Road Estate, a very British example of brutalist architecture. Feels like a leftover movie set from Blade Runner on a rainy day and a retro-futurist apartment block from a seaside resort on a sunny one – both dystopian and candid, inspired by stadium terraces and exotic promenades (it’s just missing a couple of palm trees). One of the weirdest and most intriguing architectural statements in London, and I’m saying this not only because I live there. The urban megalopolis, as imagined in 1972 by Le Corbusier and its disciples…

I think it was one of the locations in Anthony Minghella’s Breaking & Entering – the estate where Juliette Binoche lives. You live there? Lucky you!
